The council of Ealing provide a
web page
from where you can download an
ESRI shape file
that has the details of their public rights of way.
This link
gets the
ESRI shape file
from The council also provides an online map showing their public rights of way. It may be that their map uses more up-to-date information. The council of Ealing have provided me with a file that has the Council's Definitive Statement. This is a spreadsheet that has details of each of their public rights of way. They have informed me that this spreadsheet is released by the council of Ealing under the terms of Open Government Licence v3.0. An authority's Definitive Map is the authoritative source of their rights of way. The details of the public rights of way network contained in an authority's data are for information only, and are an interpretation of the Definitive Map, not the Definitive Map itself, and should not be relied on for determining the position or alignment of any public right of way. For legal purposes, an authority's data does not replace their Definitive Map. And changes may have been made to the Definitive Map that are not included in their data. The authority's data contains Ordnance Survey data © Crown copyright and database right 2026. Attempting to view this data with more detail than 1:10000 may produce an inaccurate rendering of the route of a public right of way. The council of Ealing have informed me that the ESRI shape file is made available under the terms of Open Government Licence v3.0. So it's possible for you to use this data provided you give the attribution that the data has been provided by the council of Ealing.
Unfortunately, the data for each public right of way in the
ESRI shape file
does not include the I have transformed the ESRI shape file into a KML file that has no status information. As the Definitive Statement includes the status of each public right of way, I have taken the status of each public right of way from the Definitive Statement to produce a KML file that does have status information. When producing the KML, I have used OSTN15 to transform OSGB36 to WGS64. I have converted this KML file into the basic KML format that is used by this web site for all authorities. For each public right of way, this basic KML format has the name of the authority (Ealing), a unique number within the authority for the public right of way, the name or number of the parish/community/area, the name or number of the public right of way, the type of the public right of way (i.e., footpath, bridleway, ...) and any additional information about the public right of way that I've obtained from the data supplied by the authority. Here is a link to the converted KML file for Ealing. This KML file has been augmented with additional information. For each public right of way, the augmented format also includes its length (in miles), the longitude and latitude of its first point, the longitude and latitude of its last point, the eastings and northings of its first point and the eastings and northings of its last point. Here is a link to the augmented KML file for Ealing. This web site also provides information about the public rights of way of Ealing in GPX format, in CSV format and in GeoJSON format.
